William J. Loebbaka
Bill Loebbaka is an experienced
consulting and banking professional who has worked in a variety of operational
environments, involving out of court restructuring, profit enhancement and
Chapter 11 situations. Bill has served in multiple capacities depending on the
needs of the situation, including interim or permanent Chief Executive Officer.
In more traditional consulting assignments Bill will normally work as an advisor
to either the Chief Executive Officer or the Board of Directors.
Bill’s non-bankruptcy/ turnaround work has focused on applying
the principles of Horizon Advisors unique Profit Improvement Program to
profitable companies. Bill successfully helped a client reduce inventory while
reducing bank debt and still maintained a 90 percent plus customer delivery
level.
He has hands-on experience in a
number of industries and product lines. A sampling includes:
- Train engine component manufacturer, which
was forced to seek Chapter 11 protection. This assignment required Bill to
negotiate with the various secured lenders plus negotiate a settlement
agreement acceptable to the company's trade creditors.
- Precision machine manufacturing company.
This operation required Bill to restructure the operation to reduce its
break-even while maintaining its high service levels to its customers.
- 62-store vertically integrated retail chain in the custom clothing market
for men. The company was restructured and reorganized through the use of the
Chapter 11 process. Bill assisted in negotiating a settlement with its
lenders plus assisted in finding new capital for the operation.
- Video game accessory company. This company was completely restructured
from a pure distribution business to the leading designer and importer of
video game accessories. Sales in this operation grew from $9 million to over
$90 million in less than four years with his involvement. Customers served by
the client include all the major retailers and Bill developed means to manage
the risks and burdens associated with those type of accounts.
Prior to co-founding Horizon Advisors, Bill served as a Senior Consultant
with KPMG Peat Marwick in Chicago. His assignments included membership on a
managing board, which successfully turned around a $45 million automotive
supplier. Responsibilities included labor negotiations, pricing, credit
negotiations and accounts receivable strategy. In addition, he managed the
strategic marketing analysis for a large consumer products company.
Bill began his career with ABN/LaSalle Bank.
Bill received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from DePaul University
cum laude and his Masters in Finance and International Business from
Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management where he
graduated near the top of his class.
